Jamaica to Host World Travel Week and Tourism Resilience Awards

World Travel Week will take place in Jamaica from Oct. 10 to Oct. 15, hosted at the Princess Resorts complex in Negril.

Jamaica to Host World Travel Week

The announcement came from Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, during the World Travel Awards ceremony in Dubai on Sept. 13. He described the hosting role as “a statement that Jamaica is ready, willing, and able to lead the global conversation on the future of travel.”

Bartlett highlighted the island’s recent progress in rebuilding visitor numbers after a series of hurricanes and the pandemic. He said the week will allow the country to showcase its hospitality standards and share lessons learned with other destinations facing similar challenges.

New Tourism Resilience Awards

At the same Dubai event, the minister unveiled the Tourism Resilience Awards, a program that will recognize individuals, businesses and communities that have demonstrated notable perseverance amid natural disasters, health crises and economic pressures.

He noted that hotel staff, tour operators and guesthouse owners kept services running during difficult periods, turning “tourism resilience” from an abstract idea into a daily reality. The awards aim to document these practices and circulate them worldwide.
