Maybourne Riviera Hotel Unveils Refined Luxury on Côte d’Azur

The Maybourne Riviera sits on a cliffside along the French Côte d’Azur, where modernist architecture meets Mediterranean ease. Opened in 2022 after six years of renovations, the hotel is part of the group behind Claridge’s, The Connaught, and The Berkeley. Its striking design features plenty of light and generous use of the hotel’s signature orange hue, creating a relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere. Views of the Mediterranean stretch across nearly every space, from the open-air gym to guest rooms with balconies overlooking yachts and jet skis.

Drinks With a View

At bar Le 300, cocktails are the focus, served on a terrace with panoramic coastal views and live music drifting in from inside. The latest menu, called Identité, balances familiar favorites with inventive twists. It spotlights the nine bestselling drinks from the past three years, reimagined with approachable flair rather than obscure ingredients or flashy techniques.

Beyond Le 300, the hotel offers multiple dining options. At the top of the building, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten introduced his abc Kitchens Riviera concept, featuring elegant spritzes as a prelude to dinner at the Riviera Restaurant. There, chef Sébastien Tantot serves light, fresh dishes rooted in local flavors—raw amberjack with Provence peaches, steamed sea bass with truffle-scented pesto.

Seaside Access and Active Pursuits

Days at the Maybourne Riviera naturally drift toward the water. The private La Môme Riviera beach club provides loungers, swimming, and a full restaurant and bar setup, ideal for losing an afternoon by the sea. For those looking to explore, hiking and cycling trails wind through the hills above, while sailing and water sports keep guests connected to the coast.

The hotel can arrange more adventurous outings like paragliding, though these feel optional rather than essential. Nearby perched villages offer galleries, small shops, and coastal walks, while Monaco is just a short trip along the shoreline.

Adapting to Its Remote Setting

Since opening, the hotel has made notable changes behind the scenes. It now closes during the off-season, as its cliffside location makes it less accessible to visitors from nearby cities like Nice or Cannes. The spa and gym, both newly added, reflect ongoing efforts to refine the guest experience.

With its blend of luxury, local cuisine, and stunning views, the Maybourne Riviera has quickly evolved to suit its unique setting. As night falls and Monaco lights up in the distance, the terrace is peaceful and far removed from the distant activity below. Rooms start at £698 per night; reservations can be made through maybourne.com.
