EVA Air has launched direct flights between Washington Dulles International Airport and Taipei. The new route is the airline’s 10th in North America and the first nonstop service between the two cities.
The inaugural flight had a ceremonial water cannon salute and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attendees included officials from EVA Air, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), the Virginia Department of Aviation, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States. Han Kuo-Yu, President of the Legislative Yuan of Taiwan, led a delegation on the return flight to Taipei.
Clay Sun, President of EVA Air, and Jack Potter, President and CEO of MWAA, exchanged commemorative gifts. Sun gave a model of a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Potter presented a custom-framed map of Washington, D.C. Passengers on the inaugural flight received limited-edition items from EVA Air and the Taiwan Tourism Administration.

The route will operate four times weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft with Royal Laurel Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class. This is the fourth iteration of Premium Economy Class for the airline.
Flights will depart from Washington, D.C. to Taipei on days 2, 4, 6, and 7 at 01:50, arriving in Taipei at 05:45 the next day. Flights from Taipei to Washington, D.C. will leave on days 1, 3, 5, and 6 at 19:30, arriving in Washington, D.C. at 22:30. These times may change based on official airline announcements.
These services make Washington, D.C. the latest of 10 North American gateways for the airline. Its other destinations include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago, Vancouver, and Toronto. EVA Air offers 98 flights per week across this network.
